The narrator gets lost in an unknown area while on his way to Cape Girardeau, and because of the bad weather, he heads towards an isolated dilapidated house to find a shelter in it, not knowing that it will be the beginning of an exciting adventure inside, to know the story of those who lived in this house years ago, the story of their happiness and their collapse as well, and most importantly, What happened to the beautiful girl “Marceline” with her distinctive hair?

This is not only a horror novel, but it is one of the most beautiful stories of Lovecraft and carries within it suspense, which makes it suitable for reading several times.
