It is customary for the first production of any writer to obtain a "passport" for the reader... A word from a famous pen tops the book... Or brief sentences on the back of the cover, or a wide propaganda campaign in which the writer, the publisher, and friends of both parties participate, in which they tell how the stories were created, and how we bleed them The wounded pen, and how.. and how.. I believe that a book should present itself, and if it fails to achieve part of its writer's ambition, then the writer should simply accept that, as before - over and over again - to tear up stories to rewrite them.. or write Other than her..and so on, “the death of bed number 12”, prompting her to make her way, if she can find the way to the beginning, by herself, without “intercession” and without “mediation” and without a “passport.” Ghassan Kanafani, 1961.
