The first part of the famous Naguib Mahfouz trilogy, which is considered by many critics and specialists in literature to be the best and most important Arabic novel, as this part reviews the life of an Egyptian family headed by Mr. A personality characterized by frank duplicity, very strict within the scope of the family and inside the house, while outside it he has a completely different personality, as he is the beloved with the sharp joke among his companions, always staying up late in the homes of dissolute worlds. The novel was published in 1956 and moved to the cinema screen in 1964, so that the title “Si El-Sayed” has a broader meaning than the fictional character himself.
