In an inexplicable global event, forty-three exceptional children were born to mostly unmarried women, without showing any sign of pregnancy. Inventor and millionaire Reginald Hargreaves adopted seven of these children, and when asked why, his only explanation was to "save the world." Of these seven children the Umbrella Academy was formed:
A dysfunctional family of superheroes with strange powers. Their first adventure pits them at the age of 10 against the insane and murderous Eiffel Tower, piloted by a fearsome zombie robot named Gustave Eiffel. The team falls apart after nearly a decade, but when Hargreaves unexpectedly dies, these disaffected siblings come together just in time to save the world once again.
