The novel Kafka on the Beach by Haruki Murakami is the most popular and beloved of all the writer's books. The novel revolves around the character of a teenage boy named Kafka who escapes from his home at the age of 15 to a small village outside Tokyo with another character, the old Nakata.
The novel is very interesting and full of strange events that grab you from the first page, such as fish falling from the sky, soldiers living in a forest since World War II, an old man speaking to cats in human language, wondrous worlds and mysteries. Although the two characters do not meet directly in the novel, each affects the other in some way.
The novel combines metaphysics, the importance of dreams, the subconscious, and many plots that cannot be resolved by logical thinking. The boy, Kafka, will find himself on a night where he will sleep with his mother and sister and kill his father, so how will he get out of this problem? You shouldn't miss out on all this suspense from actually reading the novel, which is written in an incredibly smooth style.
