The second part of the writer Ahlam Mosteghanemi's trilogy, after "Memory of the Flesh". The author, the protagonist, is trying to write a new book. She meets a journalist and a romance develops between the two. Then the writer discovers that her lover is obsessed with "Khaled bin Toubal", the hero of her first novel, the painter who lost an arm in the war of liberation, and signs his articles with his name. She borrows a book from his library, admiring the footnotes handwritten by his reader next to the original text. Like “Memory of the Body,” in “Fauda al-Hawas,” a love story whose protagonists are three, not two. By chance, in the last meeting between the two lovers, when Khaled tells her that he does not want them to continue together, she learns from him that the house he lives in and the library in which he lives are not his, but rather that of Abdul Haq, his journalist friend who is fleeing from the Islamists who threatened him with death. Thus, the author discovers that she is repeating the same scenario as the body memory story. The person you love is not Khaled, but his friend Abdul Haq. As usual, love misses the mark.
